Ultra Japan'15 - Part 1

The only word to describe my Japan trip – AMAZINGGGGG! The main intention of our trip was for Ultra Japan so we are unable to choose Sakura blossoms period (it’s a shame, oh well). Turned out I truly fell in love with this country. I’ll definitely revisit again to explore more places at a leisurely pace.

Our approximately two weeks’ trip started in Tokyo, moving on with Kyoto and we flew back from Osaka. It was a little bit rushing here and there for Kyoto and Osaka itinerary, we basically took a day hustled several Kyoto sightseeing and it was clearly not sufficient. Plus, 3 full days of Ultra Japan had taken a toll on us. We were unable to drag ourselves up early as according our plan.

The boyfriend already went Ultra Japan 2014 and we decided to give it a go at the hostel he stayed the previous year – Khaosan Tokyo Laboratory & Khaosan Tokyo Samurai which are by walking distance to quite some railway stations. If you’re wondering the difference, there are actually quite a number of Khaosan Hostel branches in Tokyo with different fun themes and whereabouts. Also, by referring to their homepage, they do have divisions in Kyoto, Osaka, Hokkaido and so on. I have not try hostel in any of my previous trips before as I always prefer privacy and comfort throughout my journey. If you have similar concerns as me, ‘fret not. Khaosan offers wide range of room selection whereby you could always book the private room for two or group booking with your own bathroom (AWESOMEEEE!).

We were satisfied with our stay in Khaosan Tokyo Laboratory. We booked a Deluxe 3 Bed Private Ensuite with a comfy bunk bed. Surprisingly it was rather clean, well, prolly not so spacious but that doesn’t really bother me. We stayed for 5 days and it costs us JPY51000 which is around RM1750 (around RM117/pax per night). You might want to avoid Khaosan Samurai as the place is somewhat worn out and dusty.

18 Sept – Disney Sea.
Purchased e-Ticket on the Disney website: 6900yen/pax.
Simply dream comes true. And you get to purchase beers here, HALLELUJAH to most alcoholics. HAHA! Big highlights to their classic Disney stars parades and shows on the waters of Mediterranean Harbor, especially the enormous water screens, lasers, lights, fires, fireworks and everything magnificent to make the show beyond fantasy. No pictures or videos could do the parades and shows justice. You just have to experience it yourself, I swear I was literally blown away. Please feel free to drop your queries if you want to know about fastpass and some shows that need a lottery as it got us quite confuse as well.

We wanted to leave in the middle of the show and they made us stay in front of every audience. HAHAHA!

I got too excited I totally ditched my camera, which explained not much pictures to share. My bad.

19 – 21st Sept – Ultra Japan
It was held in Tokyo Odaiba Park. Reachable easily by railway lines. This is my first time with Ultra music festivals. I was literally blown away by the crowds, the venue settings, the perfect weather and the cleanliness compare to DWP. However, I was expecting more on the stage set and lineup wise which is way too overrated for the price we paid. Anyways, the crowds and perfect weather made up for everything. Besides, Japanese are really bold and distinctive in their own costumes, which some are pretty jaw-dropping. Don't say I didn't warn you as I had quite some disturbing culture shock. Oh well, it’s Japan after all. And I'll update more details regarding Ultra Japan in the subsequent post.

A cool restaurant for supper after Ultra. Intro by Steven, who works in Japan for years. Karaoke and dine in yay!

One of the best sashimi we had. It literally melt in my mouth.

Tokyo Odaiba Ultra Park has to be the best venue for music festivals ever! All of our friends coming from different countries meet up at the park and start drinking before we go in the venue. Relaxing in the sunshine, drinking a huge range of Japanese beers and liquors with the best rave crews in an urban park close to various tourist attraction and several malls (YAY!), , ahh, what can be better than this?

Ultra Japan starts early afternoon & last set wrapped up at around 9PM. We moved on to the, say, most happening and biggest club in Tokyo – ageHa. I know we do not have to pay for cover charge back at Malaysia if we were to pop bottles, however on the contrary, we had to pay 3500yen/pax (slightly cheaper for ladies/gentlemen I couldn’t recall) regardless you’re popping bottles. However, you’re entitled with a glass of drink and any further purchase would have to be done in the bar inside the club.

ageHa @ Studio Coast
Address: 2-2-10 Shinkiba, Koto 136-0082, Tokyo Prefecture
Access: 4 walk minutes from Shinkiba Station ( JR line, Tokyo Metro, Rinkai line)
There are free shuttle bus from Shibuya during the whole night.

BERG And WEST
Japan, 106-0031 Tokyo, Minato, 西麻布1丁目1011
Decent underground club that I really dig. Two floors with 1000 person capacity, phenomenal sound system, lasers, smoke machine and an impressive interior design. LOVE IT! Also, cover charge is compulsory.

All of the Tokyo clubs are ongoing till late midnight at 5AM, well now we’re talking. Not only this, the coolest part was the crowds (mostly ravers after Ultra Japan) dancing to the music pumping from the speakers of some random modified cars. AWESOMEEEE!

22nd of Sept – Asakusa temple

Sensō-ji, a Buddhist temple dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon. We spent our day strolling around Asakusa sightseeing, sort of give ourselves a break from the ongoing wild parties for consecutive 3 days that had certainly taken a toll on us. That means, food/snacks hunting! For a matcha/green tea fanatic like me, Japan is absolutely a heaven on earth!

There are so many types of Tokyo Banana in Tokyo, but you can only get the one with chocolate filling here, which IMO taste the best!

We lost count of how many stations we went through just to fulfill the boyfriend's dream - LALA Land.

Fave drink whenever I need some hydration.

Too many pictures and words to cram in a post. I shall continue the rest in part 2 instead! Hope you lovely earthlings enjoy this post that I’ve been working on for days! <3
